Lotte Kopecky takes the win at the 2024 Paris-Roubaix Femmes
Lotte Kopecky (SD Worx-Protime) finally got her Paris-Roubaix Femmes victory after three years of trying, winning with a come-from-behind sprint in the velodrome. Kopecky narrowly edged out Elisa Balsamo (Lidl-Trek) and Pfeiffer Georgi (dsm-firmenich PostNL) to take the sprint.
The race came down to a tactical showdown between a lead group of six riders, as Kopecky, Balsamo, Georgi, Marianne Vos (Visma-Lease a Bike), Ellen van Dijk (Lidl-Trek) and the day's surprise package Amber Kraak (FDJ-Suez) making up the final selection. Vos and Kopecky were the strongest of the leaders and drove the pace over the final few sections of cobblestones, with the two marking each other's every move. However, once Balsamo returned to the front of the race with Georgi after suffering on the Carrefour de l'Arbre, the final tough stretch of cobbles, Lidl-Trek had the numerical advantage with Van Dijk also in the lead group.
Those numbers proved to be no match for Kopecky in the end who was the strongest in the sprint despite looking as if she was boxed in with a half a lap of the velodrome left. Kopecky, who had made the race the target of her season, would not be denied as she came around the rest of the group high on the velodrome wall to add another Classic to her trophy case.

Paris-Roubaix Femmes avec Zwift 2024 overview
Paris-Roubaix Femmes avec Zwift will run on Saturday 6 April.
The race, which is one of the most iconic in cycling, features a 148km course through northern France, including 29.2km of brutal cobblestone sectors.
A couple of weeks ago, Lotte Kopecky (SD Worx-Protime) would have headed into the race as the firm favourite. However, after a disappointing weekend at the Tour of Flanders, in which none of SD Worx-Protime's star squad managed to get a step on the podium, it is anyone's race in northern France.
Marianne Vos (Visma-Lease a Bike) will certainly be heading into the race with ambitions, as will Pfeiffer Georgi (dsm-firmenich PostNL) and Chantal van den Broek-Blaak (SD Worx-Protime). Whether Flanders winner Elisa Longo Borghini (Lidl-Trek) participates remains to be seen.
